As human beings living in physical bodies in a physical world, we are conditioned to think that suffering and trials are forces that keep us down. Of course, when facing trials, we are not comfortable, but our trials do not have the final word, and we must not allow them to make us feel like the burden we are carrying is just too heavy to bear. In Peter's first letter, he is not writing to people who were living the easy comfortable life. He wrote to people who were being persecuted for following Christ. They had been displaced and even lost everything that was dear to them. Yet, we do not read in Peter's letter where he says, “I am sorry for the trials you are going through.” Instead, he tells them that they should rejoice in their trails. The purpose of this sermon is to challenge your thinking about facing trials in your Christian Walk with Christ.
